MOT Tester Training Requirements
Although candidates need no prior experience to complete the electric and hybrid courses, it is recommended that candidates wanting to complete Level 3, will need to possess appropriate vehicle maintenance and repair knowledge and skills.
Our course options include;
Level 1 Award
Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Awareness
This unit is designed for those people who may encounter electric/hybrid (all variations) vehicles and require safety awareness. It is suitable for non-technical people such as managers, valeters, parts, sales and aftersales, event staff, vehicle recovery personnel, vehicle dismantlers, vehicle damage assessors and electric/hybrid professional vehicle drivers. It contains the knowledge of the dangers surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles (all variations) and the precautions to avoid potential injury.
Level 2 Award
Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Hazard Management for Emergency and Recovery Personnel
This award is designed for those people who may encounter accident damaged or broken-down vehicles, e.g. emergency services and roadside recovery operators. It contains the knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle’s high & low voltage electrical system and electric drive train system.
Level 2 Award
Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities
This award is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles. It contains the skills and knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle’s high & low voltage electrical system and electric drive train system, whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance. On completing this qualification, technicians will have gained knowledge of both low and high voltage technologies and an understanding of their dangers.
Level 3 Award
Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Repair and Replacement
This award is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely in and around the vehicle’s high & low voltage electrical system and electric drive train system whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance.
On completion of this qualification, technicians will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the skills required for repairing vehicles with low & high voltage electric technologies.
